Neighborhood Association

Bend’s Neighborhood Leadership Alliance (NLA) membership consists of one member representing each of the 13 recognized Neighborhood Associations in Bend. Committee members are recommended by the neighborhood association’s board and appointed by the Mayor with the consent of City Council.

Bend’s Neighborhood Association Round Table (NART) aims to provide proactive and outcome-oriented communications with all 13 of Bend’s Neighborhood Associations. The objective of the forum is to share information, educate, discuss policy and methodology for the education, advancement, and functionality of the Neighborhood Associations.

Next Door is an online community platform where Bend neighbors share recommendations and advice, classifieds, important alerts, and much more.

Historic Landmarks Commission (HLC)

The Deschutes Country Historic Landmarks Commission is part of a nationwide network dedicated to the preservation and celebration of architectural heritage. Established in 1980, the commission serves as a citizen advisory body to the Deschutes County Board of Commissioners and the Sisters City Council.  Their role is to assist property owners in the preservation of landmarks with historical or architectural significance.

The Bend Landmarks Commission serves the Bend community as one of the City’s Citizen Committees. Landmarks Commissioners are volunteers, appointed by the City Council for 4-year terms. The Landmarks Commission conducts quasi-judicial public hearings on Type III planning applications affecting historic resources, and acts as an advisory board to the City Council on decisions that could affect historic resources.
